Giganotosaurus carolinii

(the 2nd Largest Carnivorous dinosaur)

Giganotosaurus was the largest of all carnovorous dinosaurs. He was much bigger than T-rex (about 50% bigger) and was only discovered in 1993, by a man called Ruben Carolini, and amateur fossil hunter, who discovered the remains in southern Argentina, and who gave the dinosaur his name. Despite his size, his brain was only about half the size of a Tyrannosaurus. Gigantosaurus's teeth were smaller and sharper and narrower than Tyrannosaurus, and were more suited to slicing the flesh of it's victims.

Giganotosaurus measured approxmately 12m (40ft) in length, and between 6 and 13 tons in weight. Due to his large and well developed nasal structure, it is presumed that Giganotosaurus had a good sense of smell. The discovery of herbivore remains, packed into small areas, suggests that Giganotosaurus may have been a hunter, who hunted both in packs or alone

The best chance of seeing him in action would be on a special "Land of the Giants" documentary called "Chased by Dinosaurs".
